March’s Question

WHAT DO YOU ‘SEE’ IN THIS PRESENT MOMENT OF ‘SPRING BEFORE SPRING‘?

I see the sun lingering longer in the sky.
I see (and hear) the early return of the songbird.
I see the bold tips of tulips,
and the skittish little lilies wondering if the world is really quite ready.
I see buds on leafless trees, dauntlessly daring to redden; to pop before my eyes!
I see a few pine cones, brazen enough to open, silently luring me into their sacred space kept so tightly closed up all winter, while the nearby chipmunk scurries for her new summer digs.
I see God & Goddess. Naked.
Without Fanfare & without Holiday.
But with a buried, rumbling passion so strong, it shakes the truest part of my being.

February’s Question…

Why do you think the human heart became known as the ‘seat of the soul’ or the place where love resides?
(Try to refrain from researching the facts and look to your heart for the answer!)

January’s Question…

HOW DO YOU SEIZE A MOMENT?
(Or… How can we make the most of the energy, motivating forces & opportunities awaiting us in each moment and create positive change in our lives?)

Sometimes I am dismayed by the fact that this life didn’t come with a manual. (although it seems manuals are only written for those who already know what they’re doing. Did they write a “LIFE for Dummies” yet?) Every once in a while, I would prefer to have steps laid out before me, (and I’ll retain my right to change them along the way, thank you very much, ‘cuz, well, that‘s just the way I am). Perhaps you can relate? Here’s just one way (there’s a million) to seize a moment; a 7-step program (there’s prep work involved) that I think I can follow to partake of the energy, motivating forces & opportunities that await me in each moment:

Step 1. Cast into your mind the idea that there IS energy, motivating forces & opportunities awaiting you in each moment. Hold onto this idea.
Step 2. Cast into your mind the idea that change can be a good thing. Hold onto this idea too and remember that one of the things holding the world together is its diversity.
Step 3. Cast into your mind the idea that you can create. You do it anyway; might as well be aware of it.
Step 4. Let the above 3 steps percolate in your mind until they feel more like regular instead of decaf.
(Note: the first 4 steps are a piece a’ cake compared to the next one.)
Step 5. Find the most honest place inside you. If you have trouble with this one, start by being aware of yourself. Watch yourself as if you’re not you. Pay attention to your actions, thoughts, feelings and the words that come out of your mouth. (CAUTION: Refrain From Judging Them! …this step can take a while but judging can keep you stuck here for years.)
So much of our behavior becomes blindsided by the power we’ve chosen to give our environment over our own will; perhaps because it just, well, it just seemed easier that way. Ask yourself if your actions and feelings are truly yours. Are they peppered with influences that surround you which may not be in alignment with who you are? Do your words reflect what you really want to say? How do you actually feel deep inside?
Step 6. Once you can more easily recognize some of the lies you were likely living with, pick an issue in your life where you’d welcome a change. Start small and realistically. An annoying little habit maybe? A certain reaction you continually have toward something or someone? A certain plaguing thought that won’t release its grip?
Dig into the issue deeply until you reach the lowest common denominator that unites it with you. Where did it come from? When did it start? How did it become part of you? Make honesty work for you. If, at its root level, you find it a negative issue that you somehow invited into your life, forgive yourself and again, refrain from judging it. Pick it apart again and again until it diminishes to almost a vapor-like state.
Step 7. Let it go. Choose a moment for yourself, any moment at all, and make the conscious decision to let it go. (Note: This may take more than one attempt. It’s ok.) Let the vapor rise away from you and out into the Universe. Know that the Universe knows exactly what to do with such things.

If the plan above works for you, you’ll find yourself repeating the issue in question less and less, if at all. If you do repeat it, you‘ll be aware of it. At some point, you’ll realize you just don’t do it anymore. What you did do was seize a moment as your own and effected a positive change in your life.

December’s Question…

What does the above quote mean to you? What do you think the English poet & playwright, D. H. Lawrence meant by “…unless the lamb is inside”?

November’s Question(s)…

Do you feel that God need ‘go somewhere’ to make things right?  In other words, is there a place where God isn’t?  And does this have any connection to 11/11/11 for you?

On our way to Peaceful Paths today, we noticed a sign outside a church that read: “One day soon, God will come and make right all that is wrong.” Rather than speculate on what this may mean to that particular church or its congregation, we instead offer questions: Do you feel that God need go somewhere (here?) to “make things right”? Is there a place, any place at all, where God isn’t?
This brings to mind an interesting upcoming date: 11/11/11.
Numerous theories suggest that not only this date but the time, 11:11, is very important. This date and time may have connections with the Mayan calendar, (the Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/2012, which, numerologically speaking, happens to add up to 11, at precisely 11:11 GMT). Many feel this date also has strong connections to the Illuminati, the Bible, and/or a global/universal spiritual awakening. Some believe that our Spirit Guides or Angels use the time, 11:11, as a way to contact us and the number’s appearance, which many people seem to be more readily noticing, is their way of grabbing our attention. Do you make a quick wish when you look at a clock that reflects 11:11?
In numerology, 11 is considered a Master Number. It represents illumination, insight and a direct channel to the subconscious. It is considered a very spiritual number; the most psychic of all numbers and is also considered the doorway to your inner self. The number 11 pertains to heightened awareness, divine revelation and for those with this number prominent in their numerology chart, it is said to be a demand to ‘live your light”.
Some feel 11/11/11 to be a date that will open a gateway of sorts, a portal of higher vibration meant to aid in the evolution of mankind. Has our DNA itself been coded from within, preprogrammed to respond to this special time of awakening? Are we destined to become the “fifth root race” so often spoken about in the readings of Edgar Cayce? Are we “the ones we have been waiting for”, according to the Hopi?
Conversely, many who see 11:11 on a clock or 11/11/11 on a calendar feel these numbers have no special significance at all other than the scientific fact that our brain happens to recognize patterns. And of course, there’s the ‘odds’ thing, for those who enjoy betting. What are the odds on winning a pick-3 lottery with the numbers 11, 11, 11.
The truth may be that no one can really tell you the exact significance, if any, of 11/11/11, or the time of 11:11. The experience this date and time brings to you as an individual, is likely as unique as you are.
In any case, whatever secrets 11/11/11 or 11:11 may hold, they are not to be revealed, but remembered. If this date and time helps us to grow in ways we might have otherwise overlooked, they are, indeed, sacred.
Any moment, date or time that we remember God is within, is sacred.

October’s Big Question…

Is there such a thing as a waste of time?

“Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.”  Auguste Rodin

I was just worried the other day that I was wasting time.  Then I wondered if worrying about wasting time was a waste of time.  Is there really such a thing as wasting time?

If I’m worried, fearful, lazy, crazy, ashamed, insecure, napping, having an argument, feeling guilty, or chasing rainbows, am I wasting time?

I sometimes felt that high school was a waste of time.  In those days, I’d have rather watched tv, which is usually a total waste of time.

I stare into space a lot.  Is that a waste of time?

I feel there’s something mighty peculiar about space and time.  What do you think?

By the way, are sit-ups a waste of time?  If so, tell me now.  I won’t bother to start.

In which case, I’ll probably take up more space.

Perhaps any action, thought or feeling which is not based on love is a waste of time?
